About the Author

Hello, my name is Jennifer Mueler. I’ve been interested in the dynamics of power exchange since an early age. I always wondered how some people get to be bosses and order other people around and why people accept being ordered around.

In a sense, I am a person of the Renaissance. Officially, my training is in technology, but I more than dabble in the humanities, anthropology, psychology and even zoology. I find the interrelationships between the disciplines to be fascinating and developed a personal theory of Sexual Darwinism: survival of the sexually fittest.

Being the fittest is an exercise in power: both exercising it or yielding it. It is learning to create your environment or adapt to it. If the submissive did not exist, the dominant would have to invent him.

This is true not only among humans but in nature itself. Bonobos are our evolutionary cousins somewhat removed, coming in only second to chimpanzees in similar genetic composition. However unlike the aggressive chimpanzees, bonobos live in troops dominated by females. The male bonobos cater to the females in hopes of gaining sexual favors. The female chooses which male to favor based on which male pleases her the most. A matriarch leads the troop and life within the troop is peaceful. Our political leadership could learn a lot from these so-called “dumb animals.”

Nature provides us with a lot of precedence for female domination. Among birds, the females are courted with songs, plumage and elaborate dances. A male bird who does not perform satisfactorily for the female’s pleasure is not the fittest.

So to argue that female led relationships are not natural is to argue against nature itself.

Besides studying the dynamics of power, another love of my life is writing. I’ve been doing that for as long as I can remember as well.

And now I join these two passions together. I hope you enjoy my stories.
